What is this gasket suitable for?

The 20 × 45 mm seal made of EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene) rubber serves in joints of exterior and interior structures, where weather loads, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations are everyday occurrences. The material is resistant to weather and ozone, so the solution is suitable for seams in facade elements, window and door joints, ventilation duct joints and machine and equipment construction.

Structure and dimensioning

The wide 45 mm sealing surface combined with the 20 mm thickness creates stability that helps distribute the pressure evenly. This reduces local stress points and extends the service life of the joint. The unit size of the product is suitable for both prefabricated details and on-site custom-made installations.

Humidity control

In construction projects, the functionality of joints is an essential part of moisture management. Systematic identification of risk areas, material selection and verification of measures from design to use. EPDM sealant supports this chain because its properties reduce the penetration of rain and slanting rain.

A practical example of prefabricated construction

In domestic projects, EPDM-based rubber seals have been installed at the factory on two sides of the sandwich element molds. When the elements were lifted into place, the seams were already protected from rain after pre-installation before the final joint mortar was applied – the solution accelerated the construction site and supported moisture management in demanding weather conditions.

Typical applications

  • Vertical seams and connection details of facade elements – weather and UV exposure, exercise needs and minor changes in shape.

  • Window and door connections – controlling wind load and slanting rain and preventing draft.

  • IV line and housing connections – tightness and maintainability can be documented in the Dry Chain10 process.

  • Mechanical and equipment construction – elastic return despite vibration and temperature fluctuations.

Installation – tightness is achieved in simple steps

  • Substrate preparation
Clean the mating surfaces from dust, loose material and grease. A dry, even surface improves the quality of the compression seal and reduces the need for re-tightening. (General seal installation instructions; for comparison, refer to the profile seal manufacturers' instructions.)

  • Seal placement
Place the EPDM seal at a uniform compression distance from the edge. In element joints, fit the seal according to the dimensions of the plans – a factory-installed implementation in the formwork streamlines the construction site and provides immediate protection from rain.

  • Mechanical clamping/fixing
Press the joint to the planned torques. Check that the sealant does not ooze out too much and does not break at the corners. If necessary, use a joint strip to protect the edge and facilitate even pressing.

Quality and maintenance perspective

  • Weather and UV resistance extends maintenance intervals, which is suitable for managing the service life of tall facades.
